Rule-1
Incorrect: He saw the boy play in the field.
Correct: He saw the boy playing in the
field.
Rule: Simple sentence এ দুটি verb থাকলে দ্বিতীয় verb এর সাথে ing যুক্ত হয়।
Rule-2
Incorrect: You, he and I is going to the
market.
Correct: You, he and I are going to the
market.
Rule: দুইয়ের অধিক pronoun/subject যদি and দ্বারা যুক্ত হয় তাহলে plural verb হয়।
Rule-3
Incorrect: Tipu as well as his friends are
going to market.
Correct: Tipu as well as his friends is going
to market.
Rule: With, as well as, together with দ্বারা বাক্যে কোনো Noun বা Pronoun যুক্ত হলে দুটি subject এর মধ্যে প্রথম subject অনুযায়ী Auxiliary verb হবে।
Rule- 4
Incorrect: l have saw him recently.
Correct: l have seen him recently.
Rule: Sentence এ yet, just, recently, already,
lately ইত্যাদি থাকলে present perfect tense হবে।
Rule- 5
Incorrect: The Scene of Kasmir is nice.
Correct: The scenery of Kasmir is nice.
Rule: একটি নির্দিষ্ট স্থান নির্দেশ করে Scene, কিন্তু একটি দেশের সামগ্রীক সৌন্দর্য নির্দেশ করতে Scenery হবে।
Rule-6
Incorrect: He has returned back to
University
Correct: He has returned to University.
Rule: Returned অর্থ ফিরে আসা, back অর্থও ফিরে আসা। সো এখানে back লেখার প্রয়োজন নেই।
Rule-7 Tall & High
Incorrect: Tomal is six feet high.
Correct: Tomal is six feet tall.
Rule: Tall সাধারণত ব্যক্তির জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। High ব্যবহৃত হয় গাছ, বিল্ডিং, পিলার, পর্বত ইত্যাদি ক্ষেত্রে।যেমন : The apartment is 100 feet high.
Rule- 8
Incorrect: “The hundreds” are a famous
book.
Correct: “The hundreds” is a famous book
Rule : বই/দেশের নাম দেখতে Plural হলেও তাদের পরে singular verb বসে।
Rule- 9
Incorrect: They enjoy play cricket.
Correct: They enjoy playing cricket.
Rule: সুনির্দিষ্ট কিছু Verb এর পরে verb+ ing হবে,
যেমন: Avoid, enjoy, keep, admit, mind, stop.
Rule- 10
Incorrect: Divide the apple among the two
boys.
Correct: Divide the apple between the two
boys.
Rule : Preposition রুল অনুযায়ী দুয়ের মধ্যে বুঝাতে between এবং দুয়ের অধিক বুঝাতে among ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Rule-11 Discover Ges Invent
Incorrect: America was invented by
Columbus.
Correct: America was discovered by
Columbus.
Incorrect: Edison discovered the
gramophone.
Correct: Edison invented the gramophone.
Rule : To discover হল অজানা কোন কিছুকে খুঁজে পাওয়া বা আবিষ্কার করা,কিন্তু invent হল অস্তিত্বহীন কোন কিছু তৈরি করা বা আবিষ্কার করা।
Rule-12
Incorrect: I was hearing his lecture.
Correct: I was listening to his lecture.
Incorrect: I was hearing her recitation the
Holy Quran.
Correct: I was listening to her recitation the
Holy Quran.
Rule: To hear হল -সাধারণভাবে কোনো কিছু শ্রবণ করা বুঝায় আর to listen মনোযোগ /দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করে কোন কিছু শোনা বুঝায়।
Rule- 13
Incorrect: I preferring milk to tea/I
understanding the lesson now.
Correct: I prefer milk to tea/I understand
the lesson now.
Rule : গ্রামাটিক্যাল রুল অনুযায়ী যে verb গুলো কর্ম নির্দেশক অবস্থা নির্দেশ করে, সেই verb গুলোর কোন continuous form হয়না,যেমন :believe,
understand, like, prefer, see ইত্যাদি।
Rule- 14
Incorrect: I have seen him last week.
Correct: I saw him last week.
Rule : বাক্যে অতীত সময় নির্দেশক যেমন: Yesterday,
last week, last year ইত্যাদি থাকলে সর্বদা Past tense হবে।
Rule- 15
Incorrect: It’s a secret between you and I.
Correct: It’s a secret between you and me.
Rule: Between হল একটি preposition এবং সব preposition ই নিজেদের পরে objective case গ্রহণ করে।
Rule-16
Incorrect: He and She is friends.
Correct: He and She are friends.
Rule: একাধিক noun/ pronoun “and” দ্বারা যুক্ত হলে plural verb
হয়।
Rule-17
Incorrect: He can speaks English.
Correct: He can speak English.
Rule : Can, may,shall,will ( Modal Auxiliaries) এর পরে subject নির্দেশনা হিসেবে third person হবে না। অর্থাৎ, এগুলোর পরে verb এর সাথে S বা es যুক্ত হবেনা। Infinitive ব্যবহৃত হবে।
Rule- 18
Incorrect: I’ve forgot to do my work.
Correct: I’ve forgotten to do my work.
Rule: Auxiliary verb have এর পরে verb এর
past participle হবে।
Rule-19
Incorrect: Five thousand forty-five.
Correct: Five thousand and forty-five.
Rule: দুটি সংখ্যা hundred, thousand ইত্যাদি দ্বারা যুক্ত করতে conjunction হিসেবে and ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
Rule-20
Incorrect: That girl has long hairs.
Correct: That girl has long hair.
Rule : Hair যদিও বহুবচন মনে হতে পারে কিন্তু কারো লম্বা চুল আছে এটা উক্ত ব্যক্তির singular person হিসেবে singular form হবে।কিন্তু সুনির্দিষ্ট একটি/দুটি চুলের ক্ষেত্রে plural form হবে।
যেমন: I found three log hairs in my plate.
Rule- 21
Incorrect: I come here for learning English.
Correct: I come here to learn English.
Rule: উদ্দেশ্য বুঝাতে সাধারণত infinitive দ্বারা প্রকাশিত হয়,Gerund দিয়ে নয়।
Rule: 22
Incorrect: 40 miles are a long way.
Correct: 40 miles is a long way.
Rule : একই দৈর্ঘ্য, পরিমাণ বা স্থান বুঝালে subject দেখতে plural হলেও verb singular হয়।
Rule-23
Incorrect: Milk are good for health.
Correct: Milk is good for health.
Rule: Uncountable noun (Oxygen, air,
water, milk) ইত্যাদির ক্ষেত্রে singular verb হয়।
Rule-24
Incorrect: The more people will confess the
truth.
Correct: Most people will confess the
truth.
Rule : অধিকাংশ (majority) বুঝালে অবশ্যই most ব্যবহৃত হবে,the more ব্যবহার করা ভুল।
Rule- 25
Incorrect: British are fond of cricket.
Correct: The British are fond of cricket.
Rule : জাতি সমূহের নামের পূর্বে সর্বদা Definite article বসবে।
Rule- 26
Incorrect: Any of these two shirts is nice.
Correct: Either of these two shirts is nice.
Rule: Either দুইয়ের মধ্যে এটি বা ওটি অর্থ প্রকাশ করে,কিন্তু any তিন বা ততোধিক এর মধ্যে একটি অর্থ প্রকাশ করে।
Rule 27
Incorrect: He will arrive just now.
Correct: He will arrive presently.
Rule: সাধারণত : নিকট ভবিষ্যতের ক্ষেত্রে presently, soon ইত্যাদি বসে। বর্তমান ও অতীত সময় প্রকাশের ক্ষেত্রে just now ব্যবহার হয়।
যেমন: Rahi left just now.(রাহি একটু আগে চলেগেছে।
Rule- 28
Incorrect: Only I and my uncle are present.
Correct: Only my uncle and I are present.
Rule : একই সাথে যখন নিজে ও অন্য কাউকে যুক্ত করে কথা বলা হয় তখন অন্য ব্যক্তিকে প্রথমে এবং নিজেকে পরে ম্যানশন করতে হবে।
Rule-29
Incorrect: My Teacher gave me some good
advices.
Correct: My Teacher gave me some good
advice.
Rule : যখন বাক্যে কেবলমাত্র একটি উপদেশ না বুঝিয়ে একাধিক উপদেশ বুঝাবে সেক্ষেত্রে advice হবে।
Rule-30
Incorrect: Yesterday they had fishes for
lunch.
Correct: Yesterday they had fish for lunch.
Rule: Fish খাদ্য হিসেবে বুঝালে সর্বদা singular হয়,
কিন্তু সুনির্দিষ্ট সংখ্যার ক্ষেত্রে plural হবে।
যেমন : I caught three big fishes.
